Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Calm Bloom ("Calm Bloom," "App," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the Calm Bloom mobile application. In the current version, Calm Bloom is designed as an offline-first app, which means core usage is intended to work primarily on your device rather than through a cloud account.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to Calm Bloom, including the main iOS app, widget features, local reminder features, and optional in-app purchase features. It does not cover third-party services you may access outside the App, including Apple services and external websites.

2. Information We Process

Depending on how you use Calm Bloom, the App may process the following categories of information:

  • Usage and reflection data: reading history, favorites, negative feedback, and dwell time.
  • Mood data: mood scores, optional tags, optional notes, trigger types, and timestamps.
  • Preferences: selected categories, theme and audio settings, language choice, breathing settings, display settings, nickname, and onboarding state.
  • Reminder data: reminder windows, intervals, do-not-disturb settings, and local notification preferences.
  • Widget data: the currently selected or generated affirmation text, category label, and small display marker shared with the widget through the app group container.
  • Purchase and entitlement data: subscription tier and transaction entitlement status returned by Apple through StoreKit.
  • Device permission signals: notification authorization status and motion-related permission use where relevant to supported audio features.

3. How We Collect Information

  • Directly from you when you read content, save favorites, record a mood check-in, set reminders, or choose preferences.
  • From your device through local app storage, notification settings, and widget-sharing mechanisms.
  • From Apple when Apple processes your in-app purchase transactions and returns subscription entitlement information.

4. How We Use Information

We use information processed by Calm Bloom to:

  • display and personalize affirmations, breathing content, themes, and audio;
  • generate reading history, growth summaries, and weekly review content;
  • store mood check-ins and related wellness reflections locally on your device;
  • schedule and deliver local reminder notifications you choose to enable;
  • populate the widget with current affirmation content;
  • apply subscription limits or premium access rules; and
  • maintain app functionality, preferences, and compatibility.

5. Where Data Is Stored

In the current version of Calm Bloom, core data is primarily stored locally on your device using:

  • UserDefaults for preferences, onboarding state, reminder settings, and feature toggles;
  • local SQLite storage for reading history and mood check-ins; and
  • the iOS App Group container for data shared between the app and the widget.

Based on the current app implementation, Calm Bloom does not require account registration and is not designed to sync your core wellness data to a developer-operated cloud service in version 1.

6. Notifications and Widgets

If you grant notification permission, Calm Bloom may schedule local notifications on your device. Notification content may include affirmation text and category labels selected from your app data.

If you enable the widget, Calm Bloom stores a limited set of display data in the shared app group container so the widget can render current content outside the main app.

7. Purchases and Apple

Purchases and subscription management are handled through Apple. We rely on StoreKit and Apple entitlement information to determine whether premium features should be available in the App. Apple may process data under its own privacy terms and policies.

8. Sharing of Information

We do not describe Calm Bloom version 1 as a service that sells your personal information or shares your wellness entries with advertising networks. However, information may still be processed by Apple or the operating system where necessary to support:

  • App Store purchases and subscription entitlements;
  • local notifications;
  • widget rendering and iOS system integration; and
  • device-level functionality you enable.

9. Data Retention

Because Calm Bloom is primarily local-first, data is generally retained on your device until you delete it, remove the App, clear device storage, revoke permissions, or otherwise reset the relevant app container. Some entitlement or billing records may continue to be maintained by Apple under Apple's policies.

10. Security

We use the storage and permission mechanisms provided by iOS, but no method of storage or device operation is completely risk-free. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and keeping your operating system and apps up to date.

11. International Use

If local laws in your jurisdiction provide you with additional privacy rights, consumer rights, or disclosure requirements, those rights may apply to your use of the App to the extent required by law.

12. Children

Calm Bloom is not directed to children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that requires action under applicable law, contact us using the details below.

13. Your Choices

You can generally control or limit information processing by:

  • editing or deleting content you enter into the App;
  • changing reminder settings and notification permissions in the App or iOS Settings;
  • changing widget settings or removing the widget;
  • canceling subscriptions through your Apple account; and
  • deleting the App, subject to what Apple may retain for purchase records.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may revise the effective date above and publish the updated version.
